The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians offers a range of benefits for our Tribal Elders, such as Elder Jackets, Medicare Part B Reimbursements, Elder Monthly Payments, a Laptop Program, a Lending Closet, and more!

Annual Elder Trips
Please note: the Annual Elder Trips are currently suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians offers not only fun, but life-enhancing activities for you to enjoy.

All accommodations are provided by the tribe as a benefit for you to enjoy. This is a great time to build relationships or just catch up with your Tribal cousins.
Each Elder 60+ can bring along 1 friend/spouse at no extra cost. Our staff may request you bring a helper in certain situations.
After careful consideration of your top 3 destination requests, our staff will consider all ideas and use the most popular requests given.
When planning we must also consider trips that are most appropriate for the entire group. We like to use these trips as a great time to meet up with other Tribes and make new friends. Come along and enjoy traveling with us!
Reservations are required! Each trip has limited seating, so sign up today by calling Social Services at 541-492-5278.
Elder Jackets

The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians honors our Elders with one complimentary jacket after turning age 60. Wear this jacket with pride because you are an important part of our Tribe.
If you are interested in applying for an Elders Jacket the application is included in this packet. Because we are required to have a minimum of 10 jackets per order; we only place 2 orders per year.

Elder Parking Permits

The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua
Tribe of Indians honors our Elders by providing special parking closer to the entrances of our Casino.
This is yet another way we show respect to our Tribal Elders. The Seven Feathers Casino Resort has 5 parking spaces located in 3 different areas at the Casino reserved for our Tribal Elders to use for their convenience.
Tribal members 60 years of age may apply for a Tribal Elders Parking Permit to hang on their rear view mirror while parking in the designated parking place. After submitting your completed application we will mail you a permit and a map to show location of the parking areas.

Laptop Program

The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians administers a laptop to Cow Creek Tribal household that have a Tribal Elder. The intent of this program is to assist Tribal Elders with a means of staying connected with Cow Creek membership information.
This program will allow you to have one computer per household. You cannot reapply for at least five years and incomplete applications will not be considered. The numbers of laptop computers are limited. Applications and awards will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Each application and award in reviewed individually.

Elder Disbursement Program

The check is in the mail! We hope to make retirement easier!
Our Tribal Board of Directors honors our Elders by giving a monthly payment of $450.00 to all registered Tribal members upon turning 60 years of age.
You will automatically begin receiving your first check the month following your 60th Birthday. It is important to keep your address up to date to ensure your check is mailed to the correct address.
You may choose to use direct deposit for your convenience.

Medicare Part B Reimbursement Program

The Medicare Part B Reimbursement Benefit is provided by the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians with the intention of aiding eligible Tribal members with the expense of Medicare premiums.
Medicare Part B premiums are generally deducted each month from social security payments. Most people with part B premium pay the standard monthly cost and some with a part B premium will pay a higher premium based on their modified adjusted gross income.
Eligible persons include enrolled Cow Creek Tribal Members and the spouse of Tribal Member who pays Medicare Insurance Premiums.
Checks are mailed by the 10th business day of each month.
What do I need? SSA-1099 for annual reimbursement. Benefit Statement Letter for monthly reimbursement.

As of 12/11/18, Due to an unexpected issue with some software, Medicare Part B reimbursements were unable to be completed on time. Staff is currently working to resolve the issue so that we can process the reimbursements as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay in payment may cause.
Lending Closet

The Lending Closet Allows the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians to lend out supplies to Elders & caregivers of Elders for a certain time frame.
The Lending Closet contains supplies such as Wheel Chairs, Shower Chairs, Canes, Blood Pressure cuffs, Electric Wheel Chair, Bedside Commodes and more. Supplies such as blood pressure cuffs, bedside commodes and gate belts are to help caregivers of Elders to complete a care task as easily and safely as possible. Items such as wheel chairs, canes and shower chairs are to help Tribal Elders in doing daily tasks as independently as possible.

The Cow Creek Tribal Government Office currently has two types of meal programs: Congregate Meals, and Home Delivered Meals. Congregate meals are held in a congregate-like setting three days a week with Tribal Elders, spouses of Elders, caregivers assisting Elders, affiliate Elders, and a guest of an Elder. This program includes both the Monthly Elders Luncheon and the Senior Meals held three times a week.
The Home Delivered Meal Program is for homebound Elders or spouses of Elders that are unable to leave their homes due to a medical condition.

Monthly Luncheons

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these luncheons have been suspended.
The Monthly Elder Luncheons occur on the first Friday of every month in a comfortable setting, served buffet style. We have fun games such as Bingo, contests, activities and the occasional guests from nearby Tribes. Our main focuses for the monthly lunches are to honor you, as well as encourage socialization and provide a balanced meal.

When: First Friday of each month (except November) at 12 PM. PLEASE RSVP BY THE LAST FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH!
Where: The Grape & Huckleberry Rooms at the Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville, Oregon.
Senior Meals (Nutritional Services Incentive Program)

The Nutrition Services Incentive Program allows the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians Government Office to serve congregate meals in a congregate like setting.
The Congregate Meals are available to Tribal Elders, Spouses of Elders, Caregivers Assisting Elders, Tribal Affiliate Elders and Guests of Elders(All guest must pay the fee of $3.50 per meal). Congregate meals are created by a registered dietitian to have a well-balanced meal for Tribal Elders as well as meet (DGAs) Dietary Guidelines for Americans & (DRIs) Required Dietary Reference Intakes. Our Goal is to promote socialization, Reduce Hunger, Promote Health & Well-being amongst our Elder community.

Home Delivered Meals Program
The Nutrition Services Incentive Program allows the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians Government Office to supply Frozen Home Delivered Meals.

The Frozen Meal Program is available to Elders & Spouses of Elders that are homebound due to a severe Medical Condition that prevents them from leaving their home. The Frozen Meals Program has been created by a registered dietitian so Elders who are unable to leave their homes are still getting a well-balanced meal. The Frozen Meals also meet (DGAs) Dietary Guidelines for Americans & (DRIs) Required Dietary Reference Intakes. Our Goal is to Reduce Hunger and to Promote Health and Well-being among our Homebound Elders & Spouses.

When: Mondays and Fridays.
The Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe of Indians offers two different services for Tribal Elders, including the Caregiver Supportive Service, and the Transportation Service.
The Caregiver Supportive Services are offered to caregivers of Tribal Elders or spouses of Elders. The caregiver could be eligible to receive respite services, training, and more.

Caregiver Supportive Services

The Caregiver Support Program allows the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians Government Office to offer supportive services to Caregivers of a Tribal Elder, Spouse of a Tribal Elders, Grandparent of Tribal Children, who legally care for their Grandchild 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Caregiver Support Program Offers Respite Care, which means that a certified Nursing assistant also known as a CNA/Caregiver will come to your home and take care of your loved one while you go out and have some “you time.” This Service also allows Caregivers to attend Training, Trips, Support Groups, and much more. Our main focus is that Caregivers caring for our Tribal Elders are in the best shape they can be so that they can give the Tribal Elders the care they deserve!

Responsibilities
- As an Elder it is customary at a Tribal function for the eldest to be asked to say a blessing. You can pass if you choose, or accept the honor.
- It is an honor & responsibility to pass on our heritage all that we can teach our young from tribal language, family history, to our ancestor’s ways of life, plant uses, drumming, story- telling, preserving foods, hunting techniques and much more. It is imperative to pass this knowledge on to our young and let’s face it! IT IS UP TO US!
- Be Proud to be a Cow Creek Tribal Elder, encourage your children to have their babies registered as a Tribal Member and receive benefits!
- Enjoy your reign as a Tribal Elder, for it is an HONOR!
